A PIONEER HISTORY THAT BEGINS IN 1973
The origins of the company go back to the 1970s, when the Giraldo family ran a grocery in Vitoria. The business vision together with the entrepeneurial spirit made that the company focused on the cod as its main product, changing two relevant aspects: the fishing and the salting.They went from fishing and salting the cod on board of national ships which were sailing for several months, to fish with hook in Iceland and the Faroe Islands, the best places where the authentic Gadus Morhua is grown, according to the experts. These small ships came back to the port every day, beginning the process of salting immediately.
That is how a new business emerged, offering the customers a new cod, more modern and tasty. A new step was offering a new kind of cod: desalted cod, removing a problem for the customers who find a cod ready to be cooked.
